Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Jake Hill set the pace in the opening practice session as the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship rolled into Snetterton.

Hill only completed eight laps during the 40 minutes of running and the BMW racer set his benchmark time on the final tour.

The NAPA Racing UK duo of Dan Cammish and Ash Sutton were next in the order as the top five positions were filled by either Fords or BMWs.

Series returnee Bobby Thompson in the new Zeus Cloud Racing with WSR machine was fourth, ahead of Brands Hatch double winner Colin Turkington.

There was disappointment for the final BMW, however, as the #33 of Adam Morgan ended his session in the barrier at turn six.

The tricky damp conditions caused a number of drivers problems with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK's Andrew Watson among those to recover from an off-track moment.

Watson's team-mate Rob Huff was sixth on the timesheets, whilst Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS' Tom Ingram and Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing's Mikey Dolble was seventh and eighth respectively.

The Hyundai of Tom Chilton and BMW of Morgan rounded out the top ten, although the latter will now be hoping his car can be fixed ahead of FP2 at 12:25.

It was difficult to take too much from the session with a number of drivers failing to set truly representative times. Conditions are expected to dry ahead of qualifying, which takes place at 15:30 and will be streamed live via the ITV Sport YouTube channel.
