We’re kicking off this year’s BTCC Driver Spotlights today, looking at two drivers’ 2022 campaigns each day until Christmas Eve!
First up, it’s four-time champion, Colin Turkington...
The Team BMW ace entered the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship ready to fight for silverware in his BMW 330e M Sport, having concluded the 2021 campaign in the runners-up spot.
Turkington also celebrated a significant milestone this year, as the third contest at Snetterton marked his 500th BTCC race.
Taking a trio of victories, nine further podium finishes, three pole positions – more than any other driver on the grid – plus four fastest laps, the Northern Irishman put up a strong fight throughout the campaign and would head into Silverstone’s penultimate event leading the standings.
Despite his strong showing, the fierce competition kept the 40-year-old outside of the top three, and Turkington concluded the season fourth overall.
