Today (7 October), NAPA Racing UK's Ash Sutton claimed his maiden Goodyear Wingfoot Award at the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship finale at Brands Hatch.

Goodyear — Official Tyre Partner of the BTCC — introduced the accolade back in 2020, with the aim of rewarding drivers for their qualifying success across the season.

It therefore follows that the consistency and speed of the NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus ST outfit has been rewarded, with Sutton only qualifying outside the top three on one occasion across the whole season. In fact, Sutton has secured six pole positions across the 10-event campaign – a feat that has equalled James Thompson's record from 2003.

This will be the first time BMW has missed out on Wingfoot honours across the prize’s history. Jake Hill clinched his first Wingfoot Award at the finale last year, outscoring his team-mate and two-time Wingfoot Award winner Colin Turkington.
